The bulk of the project’s activities is to triangulate the quality of experiences in parks within 12 communities across Canada. These communities are collections of parks, protected areas, and recreational facilities at all levels of government in a focused geographic area. Quality will be assessed through a household survey, facility-level audits by trained researchers, and deployment of an innovative mobile app to capture information from visitors before, during, and after their visit to a park, protected area, or recreational facility.
Communities that have committed to being a part of this project are:
- City of London, Ontario
- City of North Vancouver, British Columbia
- Village of Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories
- City of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan
- City of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
- City of Winnipeg, Manitoba
- Town of Stouffville, Ontario
- Goderich to Guelph Rail Trail, Ontario
- Montreal, Quebec
- Bay of Fundy Region, New Brunswick
- City of Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Town of Kentville, Nova Scotia
